Thank You for Helping with Staff Appreciation Week

Thank you to all of the families that helped to make Staff Appreciation Week a success. The staff was treated to a popcorn bar and snacks on Monday, lunch catered by Greek Islands Restaurant on Tuesday, a Breakfast Buffet by Catering Made Simple on Wednesday, and desserts on Thursday.

School Supplies Ordering 2018-2019

It's that time of year again--time to order School Supplies for next year!  

We have gone to an all-online order system this year with our vendor, so please click on the link below to order your child's supplies for next year.

The kits will be delivered to Sandburg MS in time for the walk-throughs at the beginning of August.  

All orders must be placed by MAY 25 (no exceptions).

7th Grade Spring Social at Skyzone Sunday, May 20th

JUMP in for some fun at Sky Zone on Sunday May 20th!

Check in from 4:15-4:45pm with jumping from 4:45-6:15pm. This is not a private event. Parents are welcome to stay and chaperone or drop off. Water bottles and sky zone socks will be provided. Please sign up if able to provide snack donations.

LAST BLAST 8th Grade Promotion Party May 24th
The Sandburg PTA and 8th grade parents are set to host a post-promotion party for the entire 8th grade class! This is a FREE, FUN event celebrating the end of Middle School. All Sandburg 8th graders invited. The party will include light snacks, raffles (gift cards, York Gear, etc.), a photo booth and dancing with music provided by Entourage Entertainment, as well as a party favor!

We are also requesting the following donations: $5-$10 gift cards for raffle items, food donations such as chips and fruit, along with monetary donations to help offset the cost of the party (checks payable to Sandburg PTA). 6th Grade Spring Social - Monday, May 14 6:30 -8:30 pm 

Calling all 6th graders head over to Sky Zone on Monday, May 14th for your Spring Social.

Check in starts at 6:30.  Jump time is from 7-8:30

Please bring Sky Zone socks or $2 to buy socks.

This is a private event at Sky Zone and only the Sandburg 6th grade class will be in attendance at the event.


PTA 8th Grade Activity Day

This year on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018 the 8th grade class is invited to spend the day with their classmates cruising aboard a private yacht on Lake Michigan.  Students will cruise for two hours aboard the Anita Dee II and enjoy a buffet lunch, beverages, music and dancing.

Students will come to school at the regular start time and report to their seminar classrooms.  Buses will plan to depart Sandburg school at 9:30am and return at 2:30 pm. A signed Medical Release Waiver and an Activity Day Permission slip with payment are required for participation.   The cost of the event is $45.00 per person, with checks made payable to “Sandburg PTA”.

Upon returning from the cruise, students will gather in the cafeteria for a yearbook signing party with snacks and refreshments.  We are collecting donations for the yearbook signing party through the following sign up genius link.

8th Grade Activity Day FAQ Sheet

What should/can I bring for the event?

Jackets, and a camera or smartphone will be allowed on board. No other items are needed. Phones are ONLY to be used during the on-board event to take pictures, and will not be allowed to be used for texting or posting on social media apps. Students will be asked to put their phones away or will be held by chaperones. We are encouraging students to spend time on board interacting with each other in person.

What should I wear for the event?

Students should wear school policy dress code, summer, casual wear appropriate for the weather.

What type of food is being served and what if my child has special dietary needs?

A lunch buffet with foot items to be served as follows: Soda and juice bar and snack buffet which includes finger sandwiches, cheeses, fruit and vegetable trays and desserts. The sandwiches are generally ham and turkey bundles and mini club sandwiches.  There will be a few vegetarian spinach pinwheels wrap trays. We have requested that NO nut products be served for the event.  For gluten, free restrictions, only the fruit and veggie trays are gluten free. Should your child need to bring his/her own lunch due to dietary restrictions, please email Dana Sidoryk at to obtain and complete an authorization form to allow your child to bring passenger provided food on board.

Was you child just identified for REACH services?  Not sure what this means or how to support your child?  The REACH PTA is a parent group dedicated to supporting gifted and talented programs in District 205 and encouraging higher level educational opportunities for ALL District 205 students.  Our area of focus includes:

  • Providing parent resources for gifted and advanced learners
  • Organizing advocacy at local and national levels
  • Sponsoring and/or promoting academic-based extra-curricular activities that are accessible to all students
  • Collaborating with REACH teachers to provide additional resources and student opportunities.
