Prep Band and Orchestra
The students in the Prep Band or Orchestra are first year students, working out of Essential Elements, Book 1. Students in this ensemble will be beginning individual skills of note and rhythm reading, sound production, and also beginning ensemble skills.
Students are invited to use Hal Leonard's My EE Library at http://www.myeelibrary.com/ to access videos and audio recordings that supplement the book. There is a code on the inside cover that will allow you to access the material.
Each student receives a weekly lesson at his/her elementary school and attends one weekly rehearsal after school. The Sandburg Area Prep Band, which consists of students from Edison, Field, Hawthorne, and Jefferson, rehearses after school on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 at Sandburg Middle School.
The weekly pull out lesson is the cornerstone of the elementary music program. This small group lesson allows the teacher to evaluate and improve each student on specific instrumental techniques. Please make sure that your student has practiced for their weekly lesson in order to make the best use of this 30 minute time.
It is extremely important that your student bring these in order to make forward progress. These materials are required at EVERY Lesson/Rehearsal:
- Initialed practice record every week
