The mission of Sandburg PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. We collaborate with the school to encourage students to become confident, independent, responsible and respectful learners.

York Duke Girls' Volleyball Clinics
York Girls’ Volleyball will be hosting youth volleyball clinics on upcoming Sunday's. This clinic will teach players how to improve the core fundamental skills of the game while also giving them an opportunity to participate in small games. Also if you know any other 5th or 6th graders who would be interested please spread the word to them!
Location is York's Campbell Gym
Sunday 4/27:
12:15pm-1:15pm 5th Grade Campbell Gym $10
1:30pm-3:00pm 6th Grade Campbell Gym $15

The cost for each session is $10 or $15 (cash or check made out to York High School) you can make as many or few events as you would like (all funds go to support the York Girls’ Volleyball program).
No sign up necessary just show up with the amount and a pre-filled waiver or fill out a waiver upon arrival. Cash or check is acceptable to “York High School”. Registration will take place upon arrival.

7th and 8th Grade Social Dance Class
We need more volunteers, please help us with this FUN opportunity!
We are looking for a LEAD VOLUNTEER for this Friday's dance class for 8th grade only. The lead volunteer role is easy (we promise!). No prior dance class volunteer experience needed. If you can help out for this week in this role, please contact Nicole Lintner at 847-565-9699. Thank you!

Cell Phones: Our instructor, Andy Fuzak, has a very strict no cell phone policy that we must follow. Students will not be allowed to have cell phones with them during class. Please ensure your student has a safe place to store their phone during class such as a purse or zipped jacket pocket. Students will not have access to lockers. It is best to leave valuables at home.
Dress Code: Dressy attire is required for students (slacks, tucked in collared shirts, dresses, skirts, etc.) Sneakers are permitted and encouraged. Jeans and sweatpants are not allowed. Please ensure undergarments are out of sight.Teacher Appreciation Week May 5-9
Teacher Appreciation Week begins Monday, May 5th. The committee is planning a special week for all of our Sandburg Staff and would love your help in supplementing a couple of our planned days. May is national bike month. Dust off those bikes, pump up those tires and get ready to Walk, Bike, and Roll to school on May 7th. Please check the sign up genius for volunteer and donation opportunities to help with the event.7th Grade Spring Social
Attention all 7th grade families – the PTA sponsored, spring social is Tuesday May 13, from 7 – 9 p.m. at Sky Zone in Elmhurst. Join us for a two hour private glow party for Sandburg 7th graders only! Wear Sky Zone / jump socks or you can purchase onsite for $3. Since it is a glow party make sure to wear neon colors or white so your glow in the dark. There will also be a glow shirt available for purchase for $8. The Fuel Zone will be open to purchase concessions during the event.
Tickets can be purchased on Givebacks for $11 (standard ticket price for 90-minutes of jumping is regularly $28.99/ person). And parents, don’t forget to sign the waiver before you drop off. As a reminder, there is late start the following day Wednesday, May 14th – encourage your kids to grab their friends and have a blast jumping, zip lining, playing basketball & dodgeball! Check-in begins at 6:30 p.m. and the event ends at 9 p.m. If you need ticket assistance or have questions, please contact Sara Maier. Wednesday, May 21 - 8th grade boat trip, during school day, rain or shine. Only students and staff. No parent chaperones needed.
Thursday, May 22 - 8th grade promotion, 4PM at York High School (** this date and time becomes official when the District Board of Education approves the date of the last day of school which will happen at an upcoming Board meeting.) No tickets needed. As many guests as you like are welcome. Promotion is held in the gym.
Thursday, May 22 - 8th grade promotion party sponsored by the PTA. NOTE CORRECTED TIME: 8:30 - 10PM at the Knights of Columbus.

Spring NWEA Map Growth testing - will take place in D205 for grades K-8 between 5/12-23/25. For more information on D205 testing, see the District's assessment webpage and/or contact your student's homeroom teacher.

Need: The Reach Parent Group (RPG) is in need of an elementary parent to Chair (or Co-Chair?) our district-wide group next school year - at the District level (not just at the school building level) to coordinate our network across 8 elementary and 3 middle schools. The RPG is a parent group sponsored and funded by the D205 PTA Council, dedicated to supporting gifted and talented programs in District 205 and to encouraging higher level educational opportunities for ALL D205 students. Please contact current D205 RPG Chair Gwen Reedy for a job description, which involves cultivating a network; providing an advocacy platform for parents; allocating funds from the D205 PTA Council; and bridging communication amongst parents, administration, and faculty.
